If you have watched my latest makeup tutorial video you may have heard me speak about my 3 step eyeshadow rule. My 3 step eyeshadow rule is what I use every day when I do my eyes. Every "look" that I do uses the same 3 steps, just different colours. The picture above is the look I did for today which is a daytime look that I will be transforming into a night time look when we go out for dinner tonight. The only thing I will change for dinner will be putting on a dark purple lipstick- it's crazy how much lipstick can change a look!
So the 3 steps go as follows:
Step 1- I put a light, sparkly colour just below my brow and in the inner corners of my eyes. This is usually a light and sparkly white, pink, yellow or gold. In the photo above I used a white.
Step 2- I use a "base" colour to cover my eyelid and to go just above the crease. In the photo above I used a yellow gold. This is the colour that varies the most between my makeup looks, as I choose this based on what I'm wearing. Some of my favourite base colours are a hot pink, gold, royal blue, peachy orange or a nude colour. I will use a nude colour if I am going for a clean, fresh, "no makeup" look.
Step 3- I put a dark colour on the outside of my eyelid and crease as well as under my eye in the outer corner to blend into my bottom eyeliner. In the photo above I used a dark army green and a black. DON'T be afraid to blend colours ladies- I almost always use 2 or more darker colours in this step. Some of my favourites are navy blue, black, dark green, brown and purple.
That's it for the eyeshadow! Then I put my eyeliner and mascara on, and the eyes are done. I feel that using the colours in this way, dark on the outside and light on the inside, also makes my eyes look bigger.
I hope that you find my 3 steps useful, as it makes doing eye makeup just that much easier.
