Makeup: an art, not a mask.

Yay for my first blog post! So before I start, disclaimer: I am NOT a professional makeup artist. Makeup is something I do because I enjoy it. Some people think that makeup is something to hide behind, putting on a front on, a way of making yourself more beautiful. For me, that's not the reason. Makeup for me is an art and a passion- it's playing around with different colours, textures and combinations, it's fun and it's therapeutic.
For me it's also not a time-consuming activity. I LOVE my sleep, and I would never wake up early JUST to do makeup. I never take longer than 10 minutes to do my makeup (unless I'm attending an event where I know that it needs to last a bit longer and requires a bit more effort). Also, if I have to use more than 1 (or at a push 2) makeup wipes to get it off, then I've put too much on- so basically, I don't believe in caking makeup on especially because I wear makeup most days.
Lastly, for me, makeup is not expensive. My favourite brand (as you may already have seen on my homepage) is Essence. This is an amazing, affordable and animal cruelty-free (YAY) brand. It is available at all Clicks stores and is really reasonable. Note how I don't use the word "cheap" as this could imply poor quality, and the quality of the Essence products are great.
So here we go, below is today's makeup look for lunch with a friend. This look took me just under 10 minutes and this kind of smokey eye I feel can transition very well from day to night.

Eyebrows: Essence eyebrowner designer (dark brown)
